America style Rock & Roll "Sock Hop" comes to town for the first time!!
Did you ever go to a "Sock Hop"? Well, if you remember the 50s and 60s Rock & Roll music and loved to bop then this is what you might have gone to in the USA!! Sock Hops originated at High School reunions in the US and the name came about because those that attended were asked to remove their shoes to save damaging the highly polished wood floors of the gyms and cafeterias where the dances were held! t became a "cult thing" and the name has stuck ever since!!

Peter, from Jukebox Promotions says "people don't need to take their shoes off but it would be fun to remember how great Rock & Roll music was in the 50s and 60s plus, see some dress up and sock decoration if they want to do it!! We will be offering a prize for the best decorated socks at each of the six shows on the tour and so it will be a bit of fun as well as a great memory jerk and a great dance night for those that love to bop. We were asked to do a rock & roll tour during a survey we conducted in 2011 and so it's great that the time is here to put it out to the public"!
There will be fabulous Rock & Roll music live from Raving Rupert who has appeared with Bill Haley, Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Shakin Stevens, Matchbox and Marty Wilde to name but a few. Support for this tour will come from Peter Day and Fiona McLean (of Jukebox Legends) who themselves have worked with some of the top names from the 60s and have a great range of Rock & Roll music. FUN WALK sunday May 6th
CALLING ALL WALKERS TO LEND US THEIR FEET ONCE AGAIN! On Sunday May 6th at 11.15a.m.
SUNDAY MAY 6th COME AND JOIN US FOR THE FIRST ROJALES/QUESADA WALK FOR PAUL CUNNINGHAM NURSES THE WALK STARTS AT 11.15a.m. Registration from 10.30a.m. Starting from Tu Cantina in the Rojales Thursday Market Car Park on Sunday May 6th there will be a short pleasant stroll along the river and then around the golf course and into Rojales to the waterwheel. This walk is just 3 miles 5 kilometres and is all on the flat, suitable for everyone and there is even a 1k.m. and 2 and a half k.m. for those who cannot walk too far!
With stops along the way for a free tapa at The North and South, another free tapa at The Bridge Bar and Finally yet one more free tapa at Tu Cantina this is a fun walk for all of the family – do join us and in costume too if you want to as there is a host of prizes to be won on the day!
